From May 13 to May 15, 2019, a three-day conference was held at the GRAND Hotel in Starý Smokovec, focused on addressing the most frequently asked questions in the areas of payroll, human resources, and labor law. The event was organized by Ing. Mgr. Martin Tužinský, PhD., a tax advisor from ProFuturion accounting s.r.o.
A highlight of the conference was the presentation by renowned speakers and industry experts, Júlia Pšenková—a specialist in wages, contributions, taxes, and related legislation; RNDr. Jana Motyčková, an expert in social and health insurance; and JUDr. Róbert Hronček and Mgr. Andrea Domény, attorneys from the law firm HRONČEK & PARTNERS s.r.o.
Lecturer Júlia Pšenková presented the Labor Code from the perspective of wages and other monetary entitlements of employees (wage compensation, bonuses, severance pay, and retirement benefits), taxes related to wages and taxable income, issues regarding tax bonuses and the social fund, and, for example, the current topic of recreational vouchers.
Lecturer RNDr. Jana Motyčková led a lecture on the topic of working time management, which included breaks at work, overtime pay, vacation, agreements on work performed outside of an employment relationship, and maternity and parental leave.
During the full-day lecture, lecturers from the law firm HRONČEK & PARTNERS s.r.o.—JUDr. Róbert Hronček and Mgr. Andrea Domény, together with Júlia Pšenková—guided participants through a range of topics directly related to labor law and the Labor Code in its amended version effective in 2019, ranging from basic concepts and the establishment of employment relationships, through breaches of work discipline and compensation for damages, to the termination or modification of an employment relationship. Theoretical information was supplemented by numerous practical examples, cases that the aforementioned experts had encountered directly or indirectly in their legal practice, as well as current case law from Slovak and European courts. In this context, a substantive discussion took place, primarily through the active involvement of conference participants. Participants were made aware of fundamental changes to the Labor Code and related legislation (e.g., the inability to impose a confidentiality clause on an employee regarding employment conditions, the obligation to report job vacancies, changes regarding the employment of foreign nationals, the amount of allowances, and many others).
The law firm HRONČEK & PARTNERS s.r.o. is intensively engaged in the aforementioned labor law issues.
